The Grand Design-UAES Album Review
Every city has what you would call a staple artist, or a creative that represents the city their from very well. You could say Jay-Z, Kanye West, & Kendrick Lamar are staple artists that represent where they are from very well. Westside native Philmore Greene is a staple artist for Chicago. His steez is very principled on golden era and 90’s era structured hip-hop and is a good example of what a individual from the city that’s from the trenches and also of positivity comes off as. Even more importantly, Philmore Greene has been contributing to the cities hip-hop community for years in the most grand of ways. If you look up Philmore Greene you’ll see that his catalogue is not only impressive, but Greene is one of those unique story tellers that gives Chicago the most lyrical emcee description that legendary artist Cam’ron also expressed earlier this year. Before “boom-bap” was a more popular genre Greene was already building with some of hip-hop’s greatest producers and manifesting records that are being studied as we speak. Philmore Greene is truly a anomaly that has a lot sons out here studying his style and character. Just coming off a international tour Greene reminds us that he is one of the best coming from Chicago for a reason..
“The Grand Design” is a 13 record project that is equipped with incredible production from Kenny Keys, Syer, Slot-A, Jay P, Phantem, Sir Williams, powerful testimony themed skits, and bar play that is truly some of Philmore Greene’s best work yet. With this album release being under Mello Music Group & features from Apollo Brown, Bruiser Wolf, RJ Payne, Skyzoo, Rashid Hadee, and others this album is yet another reason why Philmore Greene is one of GQ The Teacha’s favorite emcees..
