Paradox 001-UAES Album Review
8MatikLogan is one of those gems that perfectly represents the new Chicago wave for one reason. He’s always been open to evolving as an individual and artist. It has always shown up in his music and art. There’s not a lot this individual can’t do when it comes to creating timeless music. Even more importantly he has always been a advocate of checking on your mental health and taking care of yourself. Understand that 8MatikLogan has been building with the legends that have come from Chicago since the blog era. His growth has been amazing to watch, and he is only just getting started. This new album is a great example of that..
“Paradox 001” is a powerful collection of alternative records that are painfully honest and reflective to what the artist has been going through. What’s amazing about this new project is that everything was created by 8MatikLogan himself. Written, arranged, produced, mixed & mastered all by the artist himself. That’s so important because Logan has always pushed the concept of being an independent artist and learning the in and outs of the industry. He wants everyone to push for their dreams and really learn about the world they want to be apart of. This album is not only showing Logan’s skills as an artist, but it’s a lesson to anyone that wants to become a artist..
Records like “Bang”, “Don’t Be Naive”, & “Cokewood” come off as theme songs that have dark, edgy, but very surreal imagery. While records like “Scream Therapy”, “Summertime Blues”, & “Vice Grips” come off as the some of most honest records we have ever heard from 8MatikLogan. The production throughout the entire album helps paint this melancholy world Logan lives in while the lyrics represent the motivation Logan has to keep going no matter what..
Our favorite records to play in the office are “Summertime Blues”, “Bang”, & “Scream Thearpy”. Take a listen and let us know what you think..
Also please go and support 8MatikLogan as he headlines at Schubas July 8th. With supporting performances from Cunty Meme, Fat Boy Goth, and others..
