uaes event review
The city of Chicago has been buzzing heavy over the past few years because the artists here are very focused on making sure the community work they are passionate about is showing up in the music. Not only that, but the priority to make sure good business is done and shared with everyone while calling out the negative has started to transform how we view the music scene here..
Because of this a new wave in Chicago has been manifesting over the last three years specifically. Artists like Recoechi, Freddie Old Soul, Mani Jurdan, CantBuyDeem, & Damon Williams have been pioneering this energy we’re talking about. Goalden Chyld is leading this wave and making it almost look easy..
Last night a special listening party was held at studio SHAPES to uplift GC’S upcoming debut album “War Cry”. This is so important because so many came out to support his phenomenal accomplishment because while this will be Goalden Chyld’s introduction to the world he made sure that his entire community was involved with his process with creating something that can reach the streets while also having a impact that is unlike what came from the blog era..
The energy from this evening kept the audience reflecting on what would Chicago look like if there wasn’t any violence, what if our communities had all of the resources we needed. GC’s upcoming album reflects on that strongly. His album has a perfect duality of drill, hip-hop, and worldplay that is extremely relatable to all that takes the time to listen. Artists and innovators alike such as Allen The Official, GQ tha Teacha, Galaxy Francis, Renzell, the legendary Larry Hoover Jr., and so many others got the opportunity to hear the album in it’s entirety and there was nothing but amazing reviews to talk about..
We dont want to ruin things for you all so you will have to wait until March 23rd when the album will be released. Until then take a look at some of the photos we caught and please come to the official release party that will also be on the 23rd at Healthy Hood from 7-10pm..
