God Still Wit Em-UAES Song Review

SolarFive comes from a certain wave of the blog era that was creating timeless hip-hop at a time where drill music was more celebrated. SolarFive along with Mick Jenkins, NoName, Dally Auston, Green Sllime and others kept a steady pace with the futuristic boom bap sounds they were making as HurtEverybody kept paving the way for alternative hip-hop in the scene/industry..

Even more importantly his bar play has always been important to talk about because his storytelling skills truly are amazing. All of this being said SolarFive’s orgins of Kummba Lynx, the 406 studio, and OnGaud productions and being a teacher in Chicago makes him one of those unique OG’s that has really contributed to the foundations of emcees and the open mic scene in Chicago. All this year Solarfive has been very present working with some of the cities very best, artists like CantBuyDeem, Asha Omega and others have been working with Solar to create some of the best records to come out of 2024. Whether it’s been his parts in the new Chicago wave, or being featured in the Chicago Suntimes & South Side Weekly, or performing at the 15 year anniversary show for the record label Closed Sessions. Solarfive has been very much in the conversations when it comes to the very best that’s coming from Chicago right now. This new record is showing what we can expect from the legendary emcee..

“God Steal Wit Em” is a powerful record with heavy bar play, witty metaphors, and incredible back and forth between each artist as they speak on the trenches and the different areas of the city they are from and how they move from day to day. The contributions from Waterr and Rufus Sims gives this record so much energy that’s balanced out by each artist and their flows. This record is definitely a needed surprise as far as what emcees at their level are capable of. We personally believe there needs to be a whole project with these artists together..

Another important point to make is that this type of collaboration is only possible because the need to collaborate and build together is the focus. Solarfive again shows his leadership skills with this record as his ability to curate the very best around him while also holding his own as an artist is truly amazing to watch. Take a listen and let us know what you think..

And get ready for Solarfive’s album, “Please Don’t Get Cocaine In The Faders” available Jan 14th..
