They All Kept Moving, While I Stood Still-UAES EP Review

Chicago has always had a very powerful RnB/neo-soul scene and it’s been very present for years. Some would say it’s hard to find this music in the city and we have always disagreed. If you go to an open mic or any jam night in the city you will find some of the very best that have been pioneering the way for the singer that wants to show emotion and power in their records. One performance at a time and community gathering any day of the week you will see just how phenomenal the RnB/neo-soul scene really is in Chicago. One artist that has always been about this way of thinking and helping the city grow more and more is the legendary Demetruest..

To understand just how amazing Demetruest is you have to know that his ability to inspire a room with his music is incredible to watch in person. Even more importantly he uses his music to truly help those around him grow more in life just like we all have to. He really takes his experiences and puts them into the records that have always helped him really motivate audiences all around the world. Him opening up for powerhouses like Jamila Woods & AKENYA is only speaking more to his incredible gift and his ability to be apart of teams that are focused on creating beautiful moments musically. This new body of work is truly a great example of everything Demetruest has in store and more..

“They All Kept Moving, While I Stood Still” is truly a breathtaking EP that touches on the emotion of love and how it can evolve all of us in the best of ways and the worst of ways too. The production coming from the legendary Eddie Burns and features like Paloma Jones makes this project even more of a gem because it has this almost stepper like vibe while the lyrics are so endearing and smooth on the ear. Each record has a completely different vibe than the other and it’s all cohesive to the entire project itself. A true representation of the growing sound that Demetruest is capable of..

Our favorite records to play in the office are “Bulletproof”, “Failure”, & “104 Mambo (And I Hope That You Know) ft Paloma Jones”.

Take a listen and let us know what you think and also take a look at our recent #L3tsTalkAboutIt episode where Demetruest is performing some of the records on the project and talking about his upbringings in Chicago at Miyagi Records..
