Dudley boyz-UAES EP REVIEW

The new Chicago wave has been picking up steam for a lot of reasons. One of the most important ones is that the scene/industry is finally building the infrastructure it has needed for over the past forty years. There are platforms that are being created and helping the artist community get their work recognized more. There are curators and artists and community leaders that are helping tell the stories of the cities art and history story by story. One day at a time folks are learning to collaborate with each other so that everyone can be acknowledged for their creative pursuits. The mentality of more unity within the scene/industry with each other is growing and a great example of that is A.M. Early Morning & Ju Jilla..

Both of these artists are in leagues of their own when it comes to the bar play and the choice of production to create amazing records. Both Morning and Jilla are phenomenal emcees with the stories they decide to tell and the work they have put out this year alone is great example of that. Since we caught up with both Jilla and Morning for their #unsocialaesprofile stories earlier this year they have both been rocking amazing shows and getting to drop more amazing records and projects. This body of work has been anticipated all year and we hope these two artists continue to collaborate and raise the bar to what is quality music coming from Chicago..

“Dudley Boyz EP” is a powerfully constructed 6 record EP that has haunting bar play and incredible production coming from BackPack Beatz. This project sounds exactly how it should sound coming from two emcees of this caliber. Jilla and Morning have a way of delivering you soul piercing lyrics with Beatz giving them the canvas to to paint with. From the descriptive skits to the amazing tag team style both emcees have on each record. We believe this project is already a top listen for 2024..

Our favorite records to play in the office are “Three Count”, “Tag Team Titles”, “Spike Dudley”, & “Dudleyville”..

Take a listen and let us know what you think..
