uaes album review
If you were in tune with Chicago music during the blog era you would know that Kembe X is not only a OG to what’s happening now, but he’s been the pioneer for the alternative hip-hop scene from our city for a very long time..
This album is not only refreshing but it’s almost like seeing a familiar old friend continue to grow and embrace life just like we all are. X’s new project feels like that in the best stoner way possible..
Sleep Paralysis touches on very indepth topics we all could learn more about. But it’s the ability to have others relate is where Kembe really shines. Not because of the amazing verse from TDE affiliate Isiah Rashad or even the amazing duality of Kembe and Hippie Sabotage throughout this body of work. It’s the almost overwhelming self honesty and comfortability he has in speaking on challenges that we again all have difficulty acknowledging to ourselves. Kembe X speaks on all of those elements while the concepts are very self reflective and important to talk about..
Our favorite records right now are “Love Songs”, “Where Demons Come to Die” “Rolling Stoned” & “Baby I’m Up”. Please take a listen and let us know what you think..
