Life Coach Andréa Ranae Debuts New EP “Too Much’-UAES EP Review

Andréa Ranae released her debut EP Too Much this past August 1st, putting sound to her extensive professional work as a teacher, coach, speaker, facilitator, and writer.

The 4-song EP is an uplifting project that offers mantras and positive affirmations backed by production from renowned engineer Renzell.Wav aka L Boogie of Studio Shapes (he’s worked with Chance to NoName, to Mick Jenkins, to name a few.).

The entire album has a dream-like feel throughout, complimented by Renae's airy voice which dances elegantly on the melodies, giving a listen that is as smooth as a slow pour of brandy.

Whether it’s tunes like “Sweet Dreams” or “Too Much,”  it’s almost as if her sonic intention was to soothe the listener’s nervous system. While there are nods to Erykah Badu, Cleo Soul, and Jhene Aiko, Ranae has a distinct sound and message that harkens back to her work in the community.

As the creator of Coaching as Activism, and the co-founder of Whole / Self Liberation, Andréa offers practical tools, resources, and wisdom for those who want to make change happen in their lives and communities.

Born in Lasing, MI, the 30-year-old  R&B/Soul songstress' roots in singing began from Disney soundtracks. So much so, as a girl, she'd try to match her voice and tone to Simba, Ariel, Pocahontas, or Cinderella (the Brandy & Whitney version, of course).

As she grew older, her influences transitioned to that of Beyonce, Fred Hammond, and Stevie Wonder.

Much of these influences can be heard throughout her debut EP, Too Much. While this is her first project and debut, she shows veteran songwriting ability and has paired with veterans of the game to produce a more than worthy-of-a-listen project.
