This past Friday, Sept. 11, South Side’s own Ashlee Bankz released her newest single “E-BOOK,” a 2:21 long hard-hitting manual, schooling whoever needs to hear it, on how to be a boss bitch.
The hard-hitting track not only features high-energy production from Yak Beats- of Winners Circle – a decorated producer whose credits include tracks such as Sexyy Red's "She’s Back" and Lotto's hit single "Another Nasty Song" – but it’s a song that features bars with some real-life advice introspective to who she is.
“I’m a different bitch, don’t compare me to no random,”
“If you don’t see him with me then you know the bitch is canceled
“Love it when he texts me and he tells me ‘I can’t stand you’”
“One thing about them tables, they gon turn, better make use,”
Ashlee Bankz hails from the 2012 Chicago Rap Scene or the “blog era” – one that featured Tink, Durk, Keef Gainz, Azaeproduction, DJ Reese, Chin Chilla Meek and others at the time.
Being that her mother is Lyrical, who was a prominent manager during that same era, and, one who manages Freddie Old Soul today, it is no surprise how tight and seasoned the record is, from the vocals to the mix. Very professional.
Bankz has been on a roll. She also released another single “Switch” July 12, that included a video shot by Ryder_visualsl, a known videographer who has been featured on VH1 & Revolt TV.
