“6776” An Alysha Monique Prelude-UAES Album Review
Understand that the many different communities that make up the Chicago music scene/industry are so unique and powerful it’s sometimes so hard to keep up with them. Folks always say it’s hard to find new music in the city and we have never been able to agree with that. You just have to really build with the growing communities that are in Chicago that are manifesting music and sound that’s so special and powerful. With that being said the neo-soul/jazz & musician community in the city is so powerful and it only keeps growing more and more. Alysha Monique is truly one of those artists that effortlessly paints pictures of love and living life through her sound and steez. She is leading the new wave in Chicago because of her amazing commitment to unity while her music truly brings so many together. This new project is proof of all of that..
“6776” An Alysha Monique Prelude” is a beautiful collection of records that truly shows the many styles Monique has and how well they compliment each other. The Family Divine band, which is also led by Monique helps paints this incredible set of moments through music that we truly cannot get enough of. Each record gives you this WNUA 95.5 feel while it’s definitely it’s own thing. This project is truly an important body of work and we believe it will continue to change the future of how neo-soul/jazz music is received in the city for years to come..
Our favorite records to play in the office are “Pale Moon”, “Find Your Way”, “Go Spread Your Little Wings”, & “Reflections of my mirror”..
