#Unsocialaes Profile: Vicki Street

The Chicago music scene has been evolving for a while now and it’s only because of innovators that are challenging the status quo on how to be successful. The difference between now and the blog era is that these very same folks are working hard to stand on morals in a city that has always been not so graceful with doing good business and doing right by folks. Artists and curators that have been consistent and focused on changing how we receive art have been standing up and doing the impossible. Making Chicago a city where there is unity and true collaboration between one another. One of those artists doing this effortlessly is the legendary Vicki Street..

Many know Vicki Street for being an amazing example to follow in the world of multi media because of her efforts and collaborations with Columbia College and her talk show, The Vicki Street Show. You may also know her for celebrating ten years in the music industry as a host and artist. You may even know of her musical works with amazing artists like Schenay and Baha Bank$, or the phenomenal hosting of memorable events she has done, you might even know of Vicki because of her upbringing and presence in the church where she grew up, there’s truly so much that has already been said about this powerful woman..

But to be very honest there is still so much to this renaissance artist that the world doesn’t know. Street has been involved with the arts since she was a child, from learning how to play the saxophone to learning how to edit her own videos and content, to the creative direction she has learned on her own to help herself and other artists evolve. She’s not letting anything stop her from showing the world just how talented she is in so many different ways. She has plans to work on her upcoming clothing brand and to release her own book soon, but that’s not all. She also is planning to get more into public speaking and sharing her mind on a lot of the issues she sees in the industry, especially as a black woman..

Street’s goals with her platform Jump Street Entertainment is to help other artists really find their voice via music, media, and event production. She has high hopes that her efforts will continue to change how sound is perceived and if you have a passion for multi media how you can get more involved. She has a lot to say when it comes to how the foundation of the industry is and the future of it with everything taking place in the world right now. She is focused on creating managing and artist development resources that the music scene can have access to..

Even more importantly she is set on making sure the new generation of artists and innovators watching everything happening in the city right now will have help with reaching their goals they have with their own music and art. Through building on a indie label creating resources that consist of song writers, producers, quality show venues, and mentorship Street is adding so much to the infrastructure that Chicago desperately needs..

Overall Vicki is planning to really have fun with her music and the journey involved with it. She is still very much so planning to drop more of her own music but she is showing others and herself that getting into the many other gifts one can have in multi media is a good idea. She is continuing to follow the actions of idols like MC Lyte and Angie Martinez and putting her very best foot forward when it comes to being an artist that is pushing the envelope on sound, while also inspiring those after her. With a new single out and more to come, a possible album in the works, a birthday to celebrate, and more she’s stepping into the role she has always carried. Being a legend that is making their own rules and showing others how to as well..
