#unsocialaes profile: china shadae

The vocalist community in Chicago has always been a space of little love shown because of the little support that has always been shown to each other since the blog era. While this has been changing since then it’s still difficult to say who got next when it comes to the ability to make love songs you can step or cry to. Of course legends like Tink and Ravyn Lenae are going around the world repping the city well. But the search for the new vocalists pushing the art form forward & that are running things in Chicago continues..

However there have been artists that have been working hard to change that narrative by simply existing and just doing their thing. One of those artists making that happen and making it look easy is the beautiful China Shadae..

One might describe China as mysterious, or maybe has a wall up but once you get to know her she is one of the most genuine spirits around. Her journey into music started with being into music videos and her want to really push herself to be her own artist. She had an opportunity to build with another artist/engineer who took her seriously when she asked about the studio process and creating records. The rest as they would say is history..

Th3 Ink Factory artist has been pretty focused on making sure her team is of quality and that led her to meeting the legendary music pioneer Lyrical of Lyrical Eyes management, who she met through the producer and engineer Geronimo. From there she has been doing nothing but setting the tone as one of the vocalists coming from Chicago that can sing a amazing love ballad but has so many different layers to her artistry. Her last project “Note To Self” as she calls it had a powerful sad girl energy attached to it when it comes to making records about heartbreak. With her new single out “Pull Up” she plans to show the world a more upbeat and fun side of her with more fun RnB & afro beat sounding records..

While she has been locked in on putting out more amazing records China has only one focus, which is to be true to herself. She still stays to herself but she still advocates for more community in the vocalist spaces in her own way. With a lot of more interviews coming up and a possible new project coming China Shadae is becoming the blueprint to what it looks like to trust your art and stand on your own..

She’s making it look easy as legends like producer Timbaland and others have heard her music and all agreed that China ain’t nothing to play with. She’s also getting ready to be honored by WGCI’s Bree Specific for women’s history month. But still..

China Shadae is only just getting started..

Tap in with more of her music below and let us know what you think..
